Mentorship Beyond Code

Many of you already know that I’m the CTO of Build Online, where I’ve had the privilege of training and guiding developers who are just starting their professional journey. But my role goes beyond technical leadership—I’ve also embraced the responsibility of being a #Mentor, sharing knowledge with them every single day.

Why do I highlight this aspect of my work? Because I believe that successful development isn’t just about writing code. It’s about fostering an understanding of the business landscape and developing strong decision-making skills.

Understanding the Business Reality

Being aware of the broader context in which we operate helps us forge deeper connections with clients. This insight builds trust, strengthens relationships, and empowers developers to become active participants in product decision-making. When developers understand the business reality, they don’t just code; they collaborate in shaping solutions that add real value.

Developing Decision-Making Skills

Every decision in software development has a ripple effect on the product's lifecycle and user experience. That’s why, when training developers, I emphasize how their technical decisions impact not only the code itself but also the overall business outcome. By honing decision-making skills, developers become more than just coders—they become key contributors to the product’s success.

I also recognize that each developer has their own pace and learning style, shaped by their unique experiences. That’s why I take the time to design personalized challenges that align with their growth trajectory. By tailoring the training to fit each individual’s profile, I aim to build strong foundations for their future success as developers.

The Power of Abstraction and Decision-Making

In mentoring, I focus on nurturing the ability to abstract complex problems and make informed decisions. It’s this skillset that I strive to instill in everyone I work with—because better decision-making leads to better products, and ultimately, a more successful business.
